'The total cost of mental ill health to UK employers was estimated at £26 billion, costing £1,035 per employee per year in 2007' (DeLoitte, 2017)

'"...By practising meditation, we can play an active role in changing the brain and can increase our well-being and quality of life,” Britta Hölzel'  ('Mindfulness practice leads to increases in regional brain grey matter density', Hölzel et al, Massachusetts General Hospital, 2011)

With employee wellbeing no longer a ‘nice to have’ and companies increasingly having to evidence the support they are providing their teams, the invitation exists to bring in a dynamic and creative approach to mindfulness and presence in the workplace.

I'm very excited to offer a variety of ways to support your staff using meditation  practices that will heighten and nurture creativity and well-being.

Meditation

The benefits of meditation are wide-ranging and include:

  • Better quality sleep and rest time outside the workplace
  • Reduced levels of anxiety and stress
  • A more focused mind
  • Improved cardiovascular and nervous system performance
  • A higher degree of self-awareness and empathy for others so that challenging scenarios don’t turn into tense environments.

With these improvements in mind, each company or team will have its own objectives and themes it would like its people to explore and I tailor each session to align with these. E.g. Reduced stress, creative thinking, innovation, productivity, problem solving, reducing distractions, communication and connection and so on.

The What:  What would workshops or retreats comprise of?

Meditation: We explore a variety of meditation techniques including mindfulness, breath work, visualisation and contemplative practices that are great for creativity, anxiety management and instant clarity.

Yoga Nidra: A practice known as 'yogic sleep', in which the participant is taken through a guided relaxation which leads into a visualisation, allowing the parasympathetic nervous system take centre stage.  Lends itself perfectly to creativity, letting answers emerge, dissolving inertia, reset after stressful projects, a post-pitch recharge, team cohesion and pulling together.

Creativity Practices: As an ex-Secondary English teacher of ten years, I know all about blocked creatives!  I use a variety of writing prompts to get those creative juices flowing.  Even better if this is taken outside and 'into the woods'!  Please let me know if you would like further information about my 'Into the Woods' retreats for businesses.  Workshops or retreats incorporating creative practices can also invite a unique opportunity for team-building.

The Where:  Where could they take place?

  • At your offices or business premises
  • In a local woods, with whom I work closely: running a day retreat in a local forest not only provides a completely unique space in which your employees to re-ignite their creativity and enthusiasm, it also helps to support the local economy and ecology

The How:  How does it work?

We work together to create an offering for your employees that will meet your staff well-being goals as well as ensure individuals are cared for at work.  Offerings could include lunchtime meditation/yoga nidra/creativity sessions (booked in blocks), half or full day retreats - in-house or in an external location such as a local woodland -or a workshop delivered as part of an existing staff development day.
